Bonne Terre, MO

Did you know? Bonne Terre was at one time the richest lead ore in the world. When discovered by the French, it was christened Le Terre Bonne, or “the Good Earth,” referring to the mineral wealth. Be sure to visit the world’s largest man-made caverns. The upper two levels are lit and feature walking tours. The lower three levels are illuminated by 500,000 watts of stadium lighting. Taum Sauk Mountain State Park
